Creating Policy for an Individual School

If independently organizing at the school level, typically the principal would establish a Sun Safety Committee, name a coordinator, and direct the committee to provide guidance to the school’s Governance Council.  Any adult member of the school community might serve as the champion to coordinate the new program.  Typical candidates include the school nurse, an administrator, a teacher of health, science, or physical education, or a highly motivated parent.  The committee should include representatives from the above categories, plus student leaders.  Commitment by student stakeholders could be crucial to the success of a hats or clothing policy.
