UV & Me Teen Video Contest 2018

OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.

INTRODUCTION

UV & Me is a division of the contest sponsor, Sun Safety for Kids, which is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public benefit charity. In the UV & Me program, medical students visit local high schools to give a presentation on sun safety with the goal of preventing skin cancer. This contest seeks short PSA-style videos on sun protection topics that UV & Me can insert into their PowerPoint presentation that is shown to teens in their high school classroom.

GENERAL GUIDELINES AND TIPS

Create an original video in the style of a public service announcement (PSA).

The video should aim to inform and motivate teens to protect their skin from the sun’s damaging ultraviolet radiation.

The video should address one or more elements of sun safety which include: Wear a sun-protective hat; wear long clothing; use a rashguard style swim shirt; seek shade; be aware of the UV Index; reduce outdoor exposure or be more cautious between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.; use sunscreen; avoid common sunscreen mistakes (insufficient amount, failure to re-apply, etc.)

A video that focuses on just one or two sun safety elements can compete favorably against a video that covers more elements.

Video run time must be one of two allowable lengths: 60 seconds (actual run time :55 - :60) or 30 seconds (actual run time :25 - :30). Because student producers may enter up to two videos, it is allowable to submit the same PSA in a 30-second version and a 60-second version which will count as two submissions.

Enter the contest on behalf of your school. Each video submitted must be sponsored by a teacher or school administrator who must co-sign the contest registration form.

The video must not contain any copyrighted material, nor infringe the intellectual property of any third party, such as music, text, footage, trademarks, characters, etc. unless you have written permission to use the material.
